Making the right gear choice for Ironman can be a feat in itself...racing for 11 hours requires thoughtful consideration of fabric, seams, stitching, wicking capabilities, and durability. A couple of months ago I was introduced to Godspeed socks by Johnny Surprise, a fellow endurance athlete, and I’ll admit to being initially attracted to the great colors and name.

Then I put on my first pair and thought “these socks feel like butter,” and after 5 hours on the bike my feet never felt saturated in sweat. I used them for every long brick leading up to my Ironman Tulsa event on 5/23/21. They didn’t disappoint on race day...after exiting the swim, I slid on my Godspeeds in T1 and never looked back. It was a rainy overcast day in Tulsa and we got soaked on the bike, and never once did I think about my feet, they were that comfortable for the 112 mile bike. Wore the same pair as I grabbed my run shoes for the final 26.2 miles and feet felt comfy and ready to roll. No blisters or chafing.

Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii here I come!
